Week 41

Hey so, this week was great. I had cambios. And so now im in Cuidad España. I was a lil bummed. But, its actually a little pueblo its a valle inside of a ton of mountians surrounded by pine trees and it isnt hot. BUt next to teguc, so its really intresting. Theres a lot of wild horses and cows. and A lot of people who live like cowboys and its awesome, i talked to a group of guys who were out making a veggie soup after working in their feilds and and just so happy that a squirel came on over and their dog killed him. So they skinned him and cooked him up.


So my comp is a gringo. He is from richmond utah. Cool dude, hes super funny. We joke around all the time. But sometimes i gotta tell him to speak spanish, cause hes had a lotta gringo comps so weve got room to grow in the spanish. Poor sucker is fighting off parasitos, but, this morning we had no food and he went to go eat an old mango and he took a big old bite and realized that it had worms. So, hell be struggling a lil more with those guys. As well the water here is super dirty, like it comes out brown, and smells like a lake and its cold! So, i think guy could have gotten a little friend from the water too lol.


We had a cool lesson with a lady named lady and her mom. and so we were teaching her and she was stoked to hear about the restored gospel. and as her mom prayed she thanked us and god for teaching the truth and asked perdon because she was in error


the members here are great, the mission leader is an old cowboy named pedro. Cool guy, we left to do visits with him on thursaday and he was so happy to be a missionary, he loves the goesple and asked if he could leave everyday with us. hes awesome, just sometimes he teaches about doctrinal points that are a little deep for investigadores, but hes really cool. As we were walkingfrom house to house he was telling me stories and singing songs that he liked. I love Pedro hah. And when we got to church we asked how he was doing and he said that he is great and still happy becasue not one of the people that we visited rejected us.


Funny stuff.
Theres pretty much no law here, i saw a little kid smoking
IN a lesson, that was going super well, a little girl came in and just started farting and ruined it,. But, everyone laughed so it was fine lol.


Well, i love it here and i really love the people, they are super cool. and I just , love them, I wish i could explain tyo yall how good i feel being here, bringing theis people to Jesus. But, i cant, just know that i love it here, i love the people, and i love The Lord.

Week 40

Hey everybody, Its me Elder Owen. I had a killer week, it was cool. But super hot here in Comayagua! But its good, I love it.


So had some cool thing happen this week. The first one is moises. I dont know if yall remember but, we contacted his mom and she hated us, but he asked us if we could come back. And so we did, and he said he could listen to us and we went back and it happened again. And it happen like 5 times until saturday. He said to us, "Hey, im going up the mountian to plant some trees. Could you guys come with me? I really wanna hear what yall have to say." So we did, and he is super into the Idea of the Book of Mormon. And, he started out explaining what he knows about God and our church. and so Then from there we just chatted for like two hours while we`re on that mountain (Im super sunburned for that haha) but it was awesome. And , he came to the chruch later that day for an activity.


The activity was almost a failure, nobody showed up and it was the missionaries and a few members and invest. who showed up hah. Even the bishop didnt show up.


So this week, we left with the bishop to visit. and we went to a lady who is a menos activo. and she loves the church but isnt going cause her mom faked sick so that she would leave the mormon church. like she used a dying wish and said dont be mormon. But shes fine now lol so its a tough situation. But shes a good lady and wants to get back to church but just feels like she doesnt know how.


We also left with a Less active member named alex, we eat dinner with hi every thursday. Hes a good guy, and wanted to go on a mish but he had a girlfriend and they got married instead. But as we left with him to visit, we found one person to teach in 3 hours. But, i dont care about that. The point is. Is that as we were with him, he started talking to us about religious expiriences hes had. And how he feels the need to have spiritual growth. So he said si or si. were gonna go to church this week, just cause we helped him remember the important stuff.


We had some funny things happen thi sweek too.
We had a contact, she is cathloic. My comp like to get into the scriptures with people sometimes so he asked her, "why do yall baptise babies?" She said, "for the original sin" and then she explained the original sin isnt adam taking th apple, it was how your parents made you. So according to her we are all sins. lol


We left with a member to visit his cousin and guy lives in a little mud house. but it has a roof of metal and everything. but, my comp had to go to the bath room and the guys wife says to him, "go whereever you want. we dont have a bathroom" so we "went" behind their house haha but the truth is people go to the bathroom in the street here all the time. its kinda normal.


As well, my comp is learning english with me and he wanted to say, "she is a flirt." but he cant say flirt, so he said, "she is a fart"

Week 39

Hey, its me again. Elder Owen. Chillin in a cyber with slow internet writing yall. This week was probably the best week yet.


So Denis FINALLY got baptized!!! So, we had the baptism before church so that he could get to work right after his baptism and confirmation. But, after his baptism he just decided to stay. He told us that he needs a better job anyway. What a guy, right? Putting God first will always bring blessings.


We visited Waldina and her family this week and she is doing fine. She lied to us and said that her grand daughter was going to have a surgery and could go to church. But when her daughters showed up we asked why about the grand daughter (Jenifer) and they were all confused and said, "Nope, our mom (Waldina) just wanted to sleep." But, her daughters are liking church and wanna be baptised.


This week we had a really interesting contact. We knocked on this door that was a sheet of metal. A humble little lady answered and let us in. She has almost no religious backround. She hardly understood us. (And the spanish was not the problem in this case) and then her Mother in law came in and with a group of like 7 people just started talking and joking and wouldnt give us a chance to finnish. She acted as if we werent even there. That really bugged me, but finally we just stood in the middle of the room, awkwardly, and finnished the lesson. The lasy is happy to hear more.


Some funny things that have happened.
i was in the market just aboutta buy some baleadas and this random little kid ran over and karate chopped the life outta me, and ran away.
Also, i was in the house of some members and the niña took my hand and was looking at it and then BIT me! and told me, "yep, thats how i am" lol.
Ive killed 119 cucaraches

Week 38

hey everybody! Hows it going? Im doing well. I had a crazy week and it was kinda tough. but you know, i loved it.


So first, we got a refernce from a guy in the ward we went and taught the chick, shes named Karmine, and she is super positive and wants to learn more. But, we ivited her to church and went to her house for a lesson, and both times her grandma says, "oh she doesnt want anything with you guys. were cathloic" and so we saw her in the street yesterday and she said that she actually doesnt want anything to do with us but will be going to a ward activity haha. Super crazy.


We also met a guy named Ilich(kinda looks like one of the beatles lol). who doesnt like his church, thinks that they do things a little backwards and that hes been looking for a change. So hes happy to talk with us.


Denis is fine. He has been looking for work for 4 months his wife left him and hes trying to provide for his daughter, super tough situation. But he finally found work!! But he started on Saturday.. and couldnt be baptized at 4 pm. but we told him, hey at 11 we could get to the church and get you baptized, and he was like"YES! i wanna be baptized, thats the important thing right now." but then he worked sunday too and so he couldnt be confirmed so well have to wait and see when he`ll be baptized.


Those were the best parts of my week.
